When are exams offered?
Eye exams are conducted Monday through Thursday between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
Exams are NOT conducted on Fridays and Saturdays, and the pharmacy is closed on Sundays.
There is no need to schedule an appointment or call ahead to verify that we conduct exams.
Do I need to bring any paperwork or renewal documents to the exam?
No, results are submitted directly to the DMV database immediately after the exam.
No other paperwork is required; your exam results will be linked electronically to your license ID number.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring your expiring license with you, as well as any corrective lenses you may need to drive.
How much does the exam cost?
There is no fee for the exam.
What happens if I fail the exam?
If you are unable to pass the exam, the pharmacist will refer you to an optometrist or ophthalmologist for further evaluation.
New York requires drivers to have at least 20/40 vision in one or both eyes, with or without corrective lenses.
A vision specialist will be able to assist you in attaining that level of acuity.
What do I do after passing the exam?
- Wait 12 to 24 hours to allow the DMV to update their database with your exam results.
- Go to the New York State DMV website
- Click Online Transactions near the top of the page, then All Online Transactions.
- Verify that the address on your expiring license is current and correct. The DMV will mail your new license to that address.
If your address has changed, click Change Your Address under the Top Services heading before proceeding. - Click Renew License or ID and follow the prompts to complete the renewal process.
Alternatively, you may login to your MyDMV account and follow the prompts there to renew.
The DMV website is asking for the provider’s NPI and state license. Where do I find that information?
The pharmacist’s credentials are transmitted electronically with your exam results.
If the website asks you to enter provider information, this indicates that the DMV has not yet received your exam results.
Once the results have been received by the DMV, the online process on your end will change and you will not be asked to provide this information.
Close the browser tab, wait a few hours, then try again. Contact us if the problem persists.
